Tri City Mall

Tri-City Mall was a mall located in Mesa, Arizona. It was opened in 1968 and was the first enclosed shopping center in the East Valley region of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The mall contained 55 stores and was anchored by a Bashas' supermarket, Diamond's department store (later Dillard's), and JCPenney. The mall first encountered problems when the large Metrocenter mall opened in Phoenix in 1973. Despite this, Tri City Mall continued to prosper until several additional malls were constructed in the 1970s and 1980s. The mall closed in 1998 and was demolished to make way for a new strip mall shopping center, Tri-City Pavilions. The last standing Tri-City Mall store (the gutted remains of JCPenney) was demolished in April 2006 to make way for a light rail transit station.
